Apple, a tech giant based in Cupertino, released iOS 17 beta 2 and iPadOS 17 beta 2 for developers on Wednesday. At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023 earlier this month, the iOS 17 update was made available. A StandBy mode, Journal app, and NameDrop AirDrop feature for sharing contacts with other iPhone users were all added with the updated operating system. A new Software Update interface within the Settings application is among the significant updates included in the most recent iOS beta release.
The recently released developer’s beta version includes a small but significant update for the Siri command, as noted in a 9to5Mac report. Now, users don’t need to issue any additional commands to select the app they want to use to message.
Prior to iOS 16, when users asked Siri to “send a message,” she would do so via Apple’s proprietary Messages app. Users can now choose any messaging application, including third-party ones, to send the message with the iOS 17 beta 2 update. They are no longer required to issue a lengthy command to “send message via WhatsApp” or “send message via Telegram.”
Any Siri-compatible third-party applications, including WhatsApp and Telegram, are compatible with this updated feature. With just one tap within the virtual assistant interface, users are now also able to edit a message or change the recipient’s contact details.
In the Settings application, Apple also made changes to the Software Update sub-section’s user interface. The quick AirDrop feature, which was introduced at the WWDC 2023, is also supported by iOS 17 beta 2. This feature requires two iPhones to be tapped together.
Users of iOS 17 beta 2 have access to a dedicated section where they can manage the data and settings of the Fitness application. This beta version also offers the cross-fade effect in Apple Music, which enables seamless switching between two songs and is controlled by a slider.
