Muhammad Amir, a former cricketer for Pakistan, recently talked about the prospect of rejoining his country’s squad. Amir confirmed his retirement during a press conference and shared his opinion that the sport’s future stars are now the younger athletes.
“How can I hope for a return now that I’m retired? If I hadn’t retired, I might have been optimistic, but since I did, I’ve aged and the team now has younger players,” Amir said.
Many cricket fans around the world were surprised by Amir’s decision to retire in 2020. He made the decision to leave the sport that had earned him not only notoriety but also controversy at the age of 28.
He publicly criticized the management of the Pakistan team at the time, specifically bowling coach Waqar Younis and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, and blamed them for the events that led to his retirement.
