Following a man’s manslaughter accusation, the family of a model who was repeatedly ran over outside her home and died as a result has paid tribute to a “much-loved” mother and daughter.
In Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire, on Tuesday, September 6, Caragh Eaton, 28, was struck by a car and killed in a hit-and-run accident just yards from her home door.
The part-time model and photographer was pronounced dead shortly after emergency personnel arrived on the scene on Field Edge Drive at 4.40 p.m.
After many hours, police discovered an abandoned black Land Rover in the area and detained 42-year-old Ian Curson on suspicion of murder.
He has since been charged with manslaughter, according to information released by Leicestershire Police last evening. He will appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Curson, of Fairhaven Road in Leicester, is still being held on a remand and is also accused of possessing a dangerous weapon.
Since then, Ms. Eaton’s devastated family has paid tribute to her in a statement provided by the police.
They said: ‘We have been devastated by the loss of Caragh, our much-loved daughter, sister and mother.
‘We are struggling to come to terms with our loss and the circumstances of her death.
‘We would like to thank everyone for their messages of condolence. They are giving us much comfort and we feel greatly supported.
‘The family ask for understanding in order to deal with our grief in private at this difficult time.’
A team of investigators is working around the clock to piece together the circumstances surrounding and prior to Caragh’s death, according to Detective Inspector Mark Parish of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime squad.
‘Anyone in the community who hasn’t yet spoken to police and who may have information, please contact us.
‘There are officers in the area carrying out enquiries – approach them, or send information online.
‘Dash cam footage or doorbell footage may provide us with some vital information. Please look and contact us.’
Following the news of her passing, tributes to the “lovely and sweet” young woman who managed a Facebook page for auto enthusiasts poured in.
“Rip Caragh Eaton, such awful news to hear, u was a wonderful young lady that wouldn’t hurt a fly,” wrote Craig Gibson. “What a cruel world we live in,” he continued.
Katie Malin added: ‘I’d just like to put a post out and say we are shocked and saddened to hear about the news of Caragh Eaton she founded this group along side myself with a hope of bringing the car community together.
‘Such a lovely, kind lady that I am sure will leave a hole in the hearts of those she touched.’
