According to accounts, a recent University of Dayton graduate was struck and killed by an automobile the day after receiving his graduation.
According to authorities, Ian Brunner, 22, died after the jack holding up his car collapsed on him Sunday evening, as reported by the Dayton Daily News.
According to university officials in Ohio, he received his mechanical engineering degree just hours earlier.
According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, reports of a man stuck beneath the automobile prompted police and emergency personnel to race to the site at approximately 7 o’clock, according to the newspaper.
“I’m outside of Campus South Apartments at [the] University of Dayton. A car fell on a kid and he’s — this jack fell out from underneath him and he’s trapped underneath and not responding,” a 911 caller told dispatchers according to audio obtained by WHIO.
The Pittsburgh native was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We ask that the community keep this young man’s family, friends and loved ones in their prayers,” the university said in a statement.
