Australian bowler Andrew Tye decided against participating in Western Australia’s last Marsh One-Day Cup matches in favor of the HBL Pakistan Super League.
The right-arm bowler will be playing for Karachi Kings in the HBL PSL 8, which disqualifies him from the tournament’s last two matches against South Australia (on Wednesday in Adelaide) and Tasmania (on February 26 in Hobart), as well as the championship game on March 8.
The domestic team’s title defense will suffer greatly from Tye’s absence.
Although he is not under contract with Western Australia, the 36-year-old frequently appears in their starting lineup for white-ball matches.
The season-opening contest between the Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi will take place on Tuesday at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.
In order to fulfill his $145k contract with Islamabad United for the forthcoming season of the HBL Pakistan Super League, England batter Alex Hales had agreed to forgo England’s impending tour to Bangladesh.
