Owning a car and being able to move around freely in Dubai is no longer just a pipe dream.
According to a statement made to the media by the Emirati government, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has introduced new services for the issuance of driving licenses and vehicle registration cards. These documents can now be issued within Dubai in 2 hours and delivered to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah on the same day.
Golden Chance Initiative:
RTA has stated that a new service has also been added to send packages to customers overseas in this regard.
Similarly, the ‘Golden Chance’ initiative, which gives people the chance to skip lessons and go straight to the test to get a driving license in Dubai, has also been announced. However, participants must already have a valid license from their home country.
When will it start to work?
The new feature, which went into effect on April 1 of this year, is known as “Golden Chance,” according to an RTA call center executive. The initiative now enables those who do not come from exempt nations to forgo classes and take a direct driving test in order to obtain the highly desired UAE license.
Where Do You Go?
You can apply for the Golden Chance initiative by visiting your local driving center; the cost will depend on the driving school, but it will be roughly AED 2,200.
If You Fail the Direct Test, What Happens?
The initiative won’t, as expected, require applicants to go through any prior training in order to obtain a driver’s license; however, they will be required to do so with an additional fee, including the cost of file opening, testing, license issuance, etc. The applicant has the option to take the golden chance direct test; however, if unsuccessful, he or she must follow the standard admissions process for regular classes.
