You’ll want to learn how to disable Clean Energy Charging if you use an iPhone. With iOS 16, Apple unveiled Clean Energy Charging, a new feature aimed at reducing the iPhone’s carbon footprint. But, not everyone wants Apple to control how their iPhone is charged, despite the admirable objectives.
By adjusting the charging schedule in accordance with the energy sources providing the electrical grid, the function seeks to lessen the impact of the gadget on the environment. The iPhone will therefore optimize its charge if you’re using electricity for a prolonged period of time (for instance, overnight) when the grid is receiving power from renewable sources.
The iPhone accomplishes this by obtaining a carbon emissions prediction from your local electricity grid and utilizing it in conjunction with the Location Services and Optimized Battery Charging technologies to recharge your phone effectively.
An alert on the Lock Screen lets you know when Clean Energy Charging will resume charging so that your iPhone will be completely charged. Touch and hold the notice to select Charge Now after you need your iPhone to be completely charged sooner.
Opt-out means that the functionality is turned on by default. You must carry out the following actions in order to disable Clean Energy Charging on the iPhone.
How to Disable the ‘Clean Energy Charging’ feature on iPhone
Only users of iPhones running iOS 16.1 or later can currently use Clean Energy Charging in the United States.
So, you won’t see the options shown here if you’re outside of the United States or using an earlier iPhone.
