
On August 15, Jeff Burton, the presenter of The Rizzuto Show, passed suddenly at the age of 55. Co-hosts Moon Valjean, King Scott, Tony Patrico, and Rizzuto posted a message on his passing on the official 105.7 website. Them talked about how “Jeff Burton, our beloved friend and colleague, was lost to us (they).” In the statement, they described Burton’s persona as,
“Everyone here at 105.7 The Point loved and admired Jeff for countless reasons…his kindness, his humor, his generosity…to just name a few.”
They also claimed that they would be “honouring” the radio show host “in the coming months.” Rizzuto and co. then urged followers to keep Burton’s “family in your thoughts”:
“The Rizzuto Show and our entire team will be honoring Jeff in the coming months, but for now, we ask that you simply keep Jeff’s family in your thoughts and remember the man who contributed so much to our station and our community.”
The radio personality was told he had prostate cancer in March 2021 and made the announcement live on air. The following weeks saw Burton start his chemotherapy treatment, and he continued to contribute to the show throughout.
Jeff Burton’s wife Juli announced on July 2 that he had been transported to Missouri Baptist to undergo two blood transfusions as well as a platelet transfusion. He was stabilised by medical professionals, but they projected that the cancer had spread throughout his body. After getting hospice care, he went home on Friday, July 8.
