Pakistan’s Independence Day will be commemorated in the American town of Herndon, Virginia, on August 14, 2023. It is a significant act emphasizing the contributions made by the town’s Pakistani-American citizens.
Naila Alam, a member of the city council, informed Masood Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, of this information on Friday. The declaration was formally signed by the mayor of Herndon, Sheila A. Olem, in honor of Pakistan’s forthcoming Independence Day.
Naila’s dedication was praised by Ambassador Masood, who noted that the celebration not only deepens ties between Pakistan and the US but also raises awareness of Pakistan in local communities.
He also emphasized the significance of strengthening ties between the two countries and recognized the Pakistani-American community’s crucial contribution to this effort.
Naila, who felt honored, expressed her gratitude for being chosen twice to serve on the Herdon City Council and noted that this decision truly recognized the contributions of Pakistani Americans in Herdon.
