Jared Bridegan, a Microsoft executive, was brutally murdered in front of his little daughter in February, according to investigators, and an arrest has been made in the case.
Investigators in Florida have reported the arrest of Henry Tenon, 61, in relation to the “cold blooded” shooting death of Bridegan, 33, on February 16, 2022.
Tenon is accused with second-degree murder, conspiring to murder someone, abusing children, and being an accessory after the fact to a capital offence.
Investigators have not revealed the reason for the murder, but according to state attorney Melissa Nelson, suspect Tenon “did not act alone.”
Officials refused to say if they had any information connecting Tenon to Shanna Gardner-Fernandez, Bridegan’s ex-wife, or Mario Fernandez, her new husband, who had previously been designated suspects in the case, despite the fact that they claimed Tenon did not act alone.
“We hope to have more answers to provide to you, even if it cannot be today,” Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith said.
Florida officials declared the case to be active and ongoing during the press conference on Wednesday.
After dropping off his twins at the home of his ex-wife in Jacksonville Beach, Bridegan, a father of four, was found shot to death on a Florida highway.
Since it was discovered that the Microsoft executive had stopped when he noticed a tyre in the midst of a remote stretch of road, the case has long baffled investigators.
Although Bridegan and his ex-wife split in 2016, there was tension in their marriage over money and who would get custody of their twin children.
Gardner-Fernandez, 35, reportedly travelled 2,800 miles from Florida to West Richland, Washington, as reported by Fox News.
When Bridegan’s widow discovered how far Gardner-Fernandez had relocated, she was astounded.
“Honestly, I was shocked,” she told Fox News on Monday.
“First, the twins lost their dad, then they were completely cut off from their own sisters, and now they’re being taken away from their school, friends, their sports teams.
“They are so isolated, and that’s what concerns me,” she added.
Bridegan had custody of his 10-year-old twins every other week, however, after his death, his ex-wife ended all contact with his family, Kristen told the outlet.
“It’s been an added loss,” she told Fox News.
“On top of losing Jared, my children have lost their siblings. I’ve lost my step-kids. I have tried for months and months to make contact and have gotten nowhere.”
