In the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023–2024), the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has requested Rs. 46 billion for 152 projects.
In line with the Pak-America Knowledge Corridor Program, the proposal calls for allocating Rs. 3.5 billion for scholarships. Additionally, it suggested that the budget allocate 3.95 billion rupees for international scholarship programs.
To fund the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Program for Afghan students, the proposal asked the government to set aside Rs. 1.5 billion. In addition, the Fulbright scholarship program has been proposed for Rs. 1 billion.
There has also been talk of creating a joint research center between Pakistan and China at Quaid-e-Azam University. The proposal makes it clear that funding for educational opportunities for Baloch and FATA students should be included in the budget.
Included is a Rs. 600 million project to establish the National Cyber Security Academy. These funds will be used by HEC to improve its services and activities throughout Pakistan.
