According to a press release, this is the time of year when the country unites to welcome the Pakistan Super League. On Monday, February 13, the eighth season of the HBL PSL is scheduled to start. At the scenic Multan Cricket Stadium, a highly anticipated opening match between the 2021 champion Lahore Qalandars and the runners-up Multan Sultan is scheduled for that day.
But before the toss, Shae Gill, Faris Shafi, Asim Azhar, and Abdullah Siddiqui will be among a star-studded lineup performing the official PSL 8 song live for those in attendance and those watching at home. Aima Baig, a musical sensation, will close the opening ceremony with her stirring performance of the National Anthem.
The singer of “Na Cher Malangaan Nu” has already contributed her voice to official PSL anthems. Aima’s absence from the official PSL anthem this season may disappoint some of her fans, but the singer is honoured and humbled to be contributing her voice to the beautiful National Anthem, a responsibility that not many are ready to take on given the intense pressure that goes along with it.
“Singing our beloved National Anthem on a huge stage like PSL is both demanding and humbling; the latter in that you are surrounded by thousands of fans at the stadium and watched by millions of viewers on television – and everyone is extra attentive because it’s the National Anthem. I can’t imagine messing it up since that is a completely different kind of pressure, said Aima in a statement.
