Only a few days after being detained for constantly phoning 911 and screaming for assistance, a young mother from Oklahoma was discovered dead on a boat in the Mississippi River.
While the crew of the barge was conducting an inspection while navigating the Mississippi River close to Shelby Forest, Tennessee, about seven in the morning on Saturday, the body of Hailey Silas was discovered, according to WREG.
The site reports that less than a week prior, the 22-year-old mother was detained for making multiple 911 calls on Sunday from a gas station across from Southland Casino.
She apparently requested a ride from West Memphis, Arkansas authorities because she was experiencing a “panic attack” and was afraid of something.
According to WREG, after being brought to a station while handcuffed, Silas begged to speak with her parents and expressed her fear and confusion.
Three days following her guilty plea, her body was discovered.
Although the reason for the Luther, Oklahoma, resident’s visit to the Arkansas–Tennessee border was unknown, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t suspect foul play, according to WREG.
Authorities stated that Silas had no identification on her, but LaRena Darrow, her mother, alleged her phone was taken.
She claimed that a man she did not know answered the phone when she attempted to call it.
“And I said, ‘This is my daughter’s profile, what are you doing on it?’ And he said, ‘Well, I’m sorry, Hailey doesn’t have a phone anymore,’” Darrow told the outlet.
“I don’t want to think about my baby being hurt like that and nobody being there to save her or being there to help her,” she said.
“I have no idea. I had spoken with her Thursday night and she had sent me a couple pictures of her on a bridge and she looked so happy.
“And she was about to go sing karaoke and that was the last time I talked to her,” the grieving mom added. “She was an amazing mother. My grandson is missing out on such a wonderful person. She was such an angel.”
