Greta Thunberg, a climate activist, demolished right-wing commentator Andrew Tate with a tweet that read “recycle your pizza box” after he was “arrested in Romania” in another twist to their unusual dispute.
Tate, a 36-year-old British ex-kickboxer and Big Brother contestant, was detained yesterday (Thursday, December 29) on suspicion of rape, human trafficking, and organising a gang.
Some media publications said that the cops were eventually directed to Thunberg by a snarky video retort.
Tate, who has been charged with excessive sexism toward women, tweeted the 19-year-old while they were engaged in an online argument to boast about his “33 automobiles” and their enormous fuel-guzzling engines.
Yesterday, he taunted her one more while brandishing a pizza box, which he claimed wasn’t going to be recycled.
He oddly stated “the Matrix has attacked me” as he was being brought away by police, so it looks the location on the box may have let Romanian authorities know he was back in the country.
The packaging served as the tip off, according to Alejandra Caraballo, a writer and clinical instructor who posted on Twitter.
Tate was detained by Romanian police less than 24 hours after posting the video to social media, thus it seems unlikely that the country’s authorities were unaware the brothers were there.
Caraballo said: “Romanian authorities needed proof that Andrew Tate was in the country so they reportedly used his social media posts.
“His ridiculous video yesterday featured a pizza from a Romanian pizza chain, Jerry’s Pizza, confirming he was in the country.
“Not only did Greta Thunberg destroy Andrew Tate with her tweet, she made him so angry he inadvertently tipped off Romanian authorities of his presence in Romania with his lame comeback video.”
The moral of the story is to avoid interacting with teenagers on social media because they will destroy you entirely, she continued.
The pizza box footage was probably not “the defining piece of evidence” that led to the arrests, Caraballo said in a later revision of her post.
In any case, Thunberg wasn’t through. She continued by mocking Tate in a tweet this morning (December 30), writing: “This is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes.”
Many people responded to her scathing criticism, one of which said that she “won 2022 in extra time.”
“Saving the planet by taking out the trash literally and metaphorically, love that for you, congratulations on winning 2022 in extra time!” the tweeter said.
“Time to make a throne for yourself using recycled pizza boxes after today. Top G,” added another person, referencing Tate’s catchphrase.
Sports journalist Himanshu Pareek added: “As a climate activist, you aren’t setting a great example by that much burning.”
Tate’s brother Tristan was also allegedly arrested in Romania along with two other men.
A spokesman for Andrew Tate said: “We cannot provide any details at the moment regarding alleged reports that they have been detained; however, Andrew and Tristan Tate have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can.”
