The federal government has decided to relaunch its laptop programme for university students with a budget of Rs10 billion.
Ahsan Iqbal, the minister for planning and development, made the news during a ceremony in Islamabad, according to specifics.
Speaking at the event, the federal minister announced that 100,000 laptops would be given to deserving students as part of this programme to give them more digital power.
According to Ahsan Iqbal, the National Bank of Pakistan (NBA) has also been ordered to create laptop leasing products so that every university student can have a low-cost laptop.
The planning minister added that Pakistan may use information technology as one of its competitive advantages given the magnitude of its young population.
The federal government agreed to reinstate the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme and other various programmes within the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, according to an earlier December 2022 announcement by SAPM on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja (PMYP).
According to the SAPM, the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme initiative will provide 100,000 computers to meritorious students this year.
She revealed the following information on the laptop programme: “There will be a 50% share of women, and transgender people will also be accommodated.” Shaza Fatima continued by stating that Balochistan’s quota had also been doubled.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, would shortly introduce this programme, she continued.
Over 100,000 adolescents will receive training in a variety of sectors under the Skills Development Program, according to the Special Assistant, with a special emphasis on IT.
