Shadab Khan, the captain of Islamabad United, is committed to helping his team win the third HBL PSL championship.
The all-rounder claimed in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan that he appreciates the responsibility that comes with a leadership position.
“I don’t have individual ambitions. Since I am the captain, I always want my team to win the game, regardless of whether I perform or not,” Shadab stated.
“When I am the captain, I am more focused because when you lead the squad, you consider the entire team before yourself. I like being the captain, and I work to keep the team and myself at ease,” he continued.
The majority of Shadab’s domestic and international players are in good shape, which will help them this season.
Since all of our players have been participating in leagues all around the world, they have had match practice and are in good physical condition, which is a good indicator. We’ll do our best to win the championship for the third time, hopefully,” he remarked.
The 24-year-old also stressed the necessity for modern T20 cricket to adopt a data-driven strategy.
“We attempt to include contemporary cricket. We also benefit greatly from it since I believe in data and correlations. We suffered owing to injuries and a weak bench last year, so we’ve attempted to make up for that,” he remarked.
The captain of Islamabad also hand-selected three up-and-coming players from his squad who he thinks can represent the Pakistani side.
“Hassan Nawaz, Zeeshan Zameer, and Mubasir Khan are a few of our fantastic up-and-coming players who might one day become stars in Pakistan,” he said.
