Last week, while on vacation in the Cayman Islands, supermodel Gigi Hadid was detained on a charge of marijuana possession, according to her representatives. Local reports claim that after arriving on the islands by private jet, Hadid and her friend and influencer Leah Nicole McCarthy were stopped by customs officials.
According to the investigation report, both passengers’ luggage contained marijuana and items used to consume marijuana when it was searched. The quantities were modest and appeared to be for individual use.
The media was informed by Gigi’s agent, Ronde Coletta, that she had obtained the marijuana legally in New York City using a medical license, and that Grand Cayman has permitted medical marijuana use since 2017.
Due to the fact that it is forbidden to bring cannabis into and out of the country, Hadid and McCarthy were taken into custody and later released on bail. They showed up in court, entered a guilty plea, and consented to pay a $1,000 fine.
The model later posted several pictures from the trip to social media, and her representative assured that everything is fine with her record and that she had a great time the rest of the way.
