As her man Cristiano Ronaldo started Portugal’s World Cup round of 16 match on the bench last night, GEORGINA RODRIGUEZ appeared dejected from the stands.
The 37-year-old Ronaldo was benched by Fernando Santos after pouting when he was replaced against South Korea.
Goncalo Ramos, who took over for him, was a revelation, tallying a spectacular hat-trick in the 6-1 victory.
Even after Ronaldo was added for the final 17 minutes, Georgina wasn’t satisfied.
The 28-year-old model wrote on Instagram: “Portugal, many congratulations.
“All of the goals were placed on you as the 11 players sang the national anthem.
What a shame we didn’t get to watch the best player in the world for the full 90 minutes.
“The supporters are still claiming you and yelling your name.”
I pray that God and your great friend Fernando continue to work together and make us vibrate one more night, she added, making fun of Santos’ romance with Ronaldo.
On Saturday, Portugal will play again when they face Morocco in the quarterfinals.
“He scored a goal he wasn’t meant to score, he hit it so early and so well. That set them on the road.
“This is a team that could easily go all the way and Ronaldo can still really contribute. If he gets it all right in his head he could end up scoring the winning goal for them in the final.”
If they defeat Spain’s conquerors, they would then play the victor of England vs. France in the semifinals.
Ian Wright, a pundit, continues to think that Ronaldo might play a significant role for Portugal over the remainder of the competition.
When he made an appearance on ITV, he declared: “Ramos scored a hat trick and will steal all the headlines, and deservedly so. His opening goal gave the game a strong start.
The Dutchman said: “I was really pleased to see it. A young kid coming into a game like this, it is a lot of pressure on his shoulders because he was replacing Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He is two footed, he can play with his left and his right foot. Portugal have a bright future with these guys up top.”
