Gemma Owen, a Love Island beauty, has spoken out about her “difficult” breakup with Luca Bish.
During a trip to Ireland after the breakup, the 19-year-old was attending a Christmas party for PrettyLittleThing, the fast-fashion company she works for.
She informed Goss.
i.e., that the past several weeks have not been a “pleasant period” and that she has been looking for support from her television show co-stars.
“These last few weeks, as going through any break-up, it’s not nice. It’s not a nice time.
“Having to deal with the press and other people’s opinions, and people thinking that they know what’s going on when they don’t, that’s been challenging.”
However, she insisted the Love Island girls she spent the summer with have all been “lovely” in the wake of the break-up.
The star added: “But overall, I’m doing OK. I’m getting through it and keeping busy.
“The girls have been lovely.
“Every single one of them has sent me a message, being there, telling me if I never need a call they’ll be there. So that’s really lovely and makes it a bit easier.”
Following a brief romance, the reality personality revealed her separation with fisherman Luca, 23, in a note posted on Instagram last month.
I wanted to let you know that Luca and I have ended our relationship, it said. Though it wasn’t an easy choice, in the end, this is what is best for us both at this time.
Many of you have accompanied us on this journey from the start, and I want to express my gratitude for your support as we embark on a new chapter.
Later, Luca issued a statement of his own in which he informed the public that he had silenced his phone in order to calm down alone.
We will continue to be close friends, and I hope the best for her, he continued.
A source close to the situation, however, insisted that Luca had been “blindsided” by the news, claiming that “Luca had no idea that Gemma was going to end things.”
He has now unfollowed Gemma on Instagram, though she continues to follow him, in an indication that things may not be entirely amicable.
Davide Sanclimenti, a fellow cast member on Love Island, has talked about how difficult the breakup was for Luca.
He wasn’t truly OK, but he is now – and he is getting better, the Italian star stated last month.
