According to the most recent Gallup poll results, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan leads the poll, according to The Friday Times.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 62% of Pakistanis blame the incumbent Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government rather than the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the current economic meltdown and political chaos.

PTI chairman Imran Khan was rated positively across the country in Gallup Pakistan’s national representative survey, which was conducted in the first 20 days of February 2023 with a sample size of nearly 2,000 survey respondents. Many respondents appeared open to supporting a new political party led by technocrats and ‘honest’ politicians.

PDM was correctly blamed for inflation and instability in the country, according to 62% of those polled.

Gallup Poll 2023

The public’s opinion on who to blame for the current economic crisis was clear, with the majority (62%) blaming the PDM/PML-N government, while only 38% blamed the preceding PTI government. It is not surprising that the vast majority of those who blamed the PDM/PML-N had voting intentions for the PTI, and vice versa.

In terms of unemployment, 21% of respondents reported that someone in their household had lost their job in the previous six months.

Gallup Poll 2023

Imran Khan also leads the Gallup poll in this category, as the PTI chairman received a positive rating from 61% of those polled, while 37% rated him negatively.

Khan received positive ratings from 29% of Punjab, 28% of Sindh, and 14% of KP, the highest among the provinces for any politician.

Gallup Poll 2023

Nawaz Sharif received a negative rating from nearly three-quarters of respondents (59%) and a positive rating from 36%. People in KP had a lower opinion of the senior Sharif than people in other provinces.

Foreign Minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was rated positively by 36% of respondents, while he was rated negatively by 57%. However, of all the provinces, Sindh gave him the highest rating.

PMLN senior vice president Maryam Nawaz received a negative rating from 61% of respondents, while 34% gave her a positive rating. People in Punjab view her much more positively than people in other provinces.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was rated negatively by 65% of Pakistanis polled, while he was rated positively by 32%. People in Punjab rated him higher than people in other provinces.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman received a negative rating of 57% and a positive rating of 31%. KP gave him the fewest negative ratings.

67% of respondents rated Asif Ali Zardari negatively, while 27% rated him positively. Zardari has gained popularity among the general public since 2022. People in Punjab, however, gave him the most negative ratings, followed by KP and then Sindh.

Majority would support new political party with honest members

According to a Gallup Pakistan poll, if a new party was formed with honest political members and technocrats, 53% of those polled said they would abandon their current party and vote for the new one.

When asked, “Would you leave your current party and vote for a new party formed by honest political members and technocrats?” 53% of respondents said “yes.”

People aged 50 and up had the highest proportion of those who said they would leave their current party and vote for a new, honest party.

According to the survey results, males were slightly more likely than females to vote for the hypothetical new party with ‘honest’ political representatives.

Surprisingly, among all political party voters, the PTI had the highest percentage of voters willing to leave their party – in favour of a more honest political platform – at 52%.

Thin majority of respondents say Imran Khan did ‘the right thing’ by dissolving assemblies

In terms of Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve assemblies in Punjab and KP, 57% of respondents agreed with him. The majority (83%) of those who support his decision intend to vote for PTI.

Surprisingly, the survey found that 24% of PMLN supporters agreed with Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve the assemblies and hold new elections.

Majority favors Nawaz Sharif’s immediate return to the country

61% of those polled supported Nawaz Sharif’s immediate return to the country. The proportion of people in KP who support Nawaz’s immediate return is 67%, followed by 64% in Punjab.

“A majority of 61% of voters want Nawaz Sharif to return. According to the poll, 91% of PMLN voters want him to return.

The Gallup poll included 2,000 respondents from all four provinces of Pakistan, including urban and rural areas. Gallup Pakistan’s national representative survey error margin is estimated to be 3-4%, with statistical significance at the 95% confidence interval.

The political situation in the country may change as elections are held, but for the time being, Imran Khan leads Gallup poll on almost all fronts.
