The latest public scandal to affect disgraced TV news anchor Frank Somerville involved his arrest twice in one night in Berkeley, California.

After a fight with his younger brother over “ongoing family issues” involving their 91-year-old father, whom he allegedly threatened at his house, Somerville, 65, was first handcuffed shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, according to the Berkeley Scanner.

According to the local crime site, the former KTVU anchor is accused of showing up drunk and irate at his father’s house and refusing to leave, starting the brawl that left his brother Mark with facial injuries.

According to Berkeley police, Somerville was detained on charges of making criminal threats, assault, being intoxicated in public, and violating his probation.

He was released at 2:20 a.m. on a $32,500 bond after being booked into Berkeley Jail, according to police.

After that, he returned to his father’s place to pick up his automobile.

He took his car back and drove off, but shortly came back.

According to the publication, Somerville returned home to seek for his phone, which he had misplaced Monday night.

According to authorities, he kept ringing the doorbell of the house while looking for his phone.

At 4:20 a.m., police were called once more, and when they came, they discovered the former newsman inebriated and sitting in his car.

According to Berkeley police, Somerville “displayed objective signs and symptoms of public intoxication and was observed driving under the influence of alcohol.”

He was taken into custody at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on a $15,000 bail after being detained once more, this time on suspicion of DUI and probation violation.

When contacted by email on Tuesday afternoon, he told the Berkeley Scanner that he “wasn’t drunk” after being released.

Alcohol abuse and drunk driving have been issues in Somerville in the past.

When a video of him smashing his Porsche into an Audi that was stalled at a stoplight in Oakland went viral in December 2021, he made headlines.

He was pulled over for driving while intoxicated and later confessed in a televised interview.

“I got trashed,” he admitted. “I mean, there’s no other way to say it. I got trashed in my apartment and wanted to go to Taco Bell, which is two and a half blocks away from where I live. I made the idiotic decision to drive. I had absolutely no business at all to drive — at all.”

Somerville was fired from KTVU a few months before to the vehicle accident because he stumbled over his words on May 30, 2021, at 10 p.m. during a live newscast.

During the same interview earlier this year, Somerville said he wasn’t intoxicated while working and that he had accidentally taken two Ambien rather than a prescribed medication.

Somerville was hauled off the air and spent nine weeks in rehab after the live TV fiasco.

He returned to his anchor seat in August 2021 but was ultimately let go when he and the station disagreed over the coverage of the Gabby Petito case.

At the time of the March interview, Somerville said he was completing a DUI program and was hoping to return to TV news.

“I mean that’s what I love,” he said. “I love what I do. I love anchoring.”
