A short circuit led to a fire that started on Monday at Multan International Airport,
Sources claim that the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration staff area was the origin of the fire. After being alerted, the airport authorities contacted the fire trucks that put out the fire.
The airport management cleared out the international departure and arrival lanes of visitors and personnel not long after putting out the fire in the FIA’s staff area.
Flight operations at the Multan airport were also suspended due to the fire event, and numerous flights were diverted to the airports in Lahore and Islamabad.
While Karachi-bound flight PK-330 was delayed before takeoff, PIA PK 732 from Jeddah to Multan was diverted to Lahore airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has begun an investigation into the airport fire incident in the meanwhile.
