IPHONE users have been urged to change five settings that will help them recharge their devices.
Owners of iOS-powered smartphones are well aware of the numerous useful features that come standard.
When used correctly, these tools not only improve the user experience but can also optimise Apple devices.
Here are five settings you can change right now to refresh your device.
Update iOS
The first thing you can do to make your iPhone feel new and updated is to install the most recent version of iOS.
Updating your operating system eliminates potentially dangerous bugs and improves the performance of your device.
To do this, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
If you are due for an update you will see “download and install latest iOS” on this page.
Turn off Location Services
Some apps on your iPhone use your location to improve your user experience.
However, Location Services frequently drain your iPhone’s battery, reducing its lifespan.
By turning them off, you not only improve your privacy but also the battery life of your phone.
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services to see which apps are using your location.
Once there, you can disable Location Services completely or only allow access while using the app.
Limit background processes
Background App Refresh allows apps to automatically search for new information even when you aren’t using them.
This is useful because everything is up to date the next time you open an app.
It can, however, quickly deplete your device’s battery life and reduce its performance.
Thankfully you can limit this process by heading to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
Tap Background App Refresh > Off to turn Background App Refresh off completely.
Free up iPhone storage
If you’ve had an iPhone for a while, you’ve probably amassed a large collection of apps and photos.
In fact, you may be nearing the end of your storage space. Fortunately, Apple has devised a clever trick to quickly free up space.
You can choose to “offload unused apps” in your storage settings.
This will remove apps you rarely use from your iPhone but will not delete the data they contain.
That way, when you need to use the app again, you can get them back in exactly the same condition.
Customize home screen
You can also revitalise your iPhone by simply changing its appearance.
This can be accomplished by changing your home screen and background wallpaper.
To do this, go to Settings > Wallpaper > tap Add New Wallpaper.
Getting a new phone case may also help to make your device feel updated – and keeps it safe.
