The 28-year-old nurse Diana Robles and two other people were killed after their Jeep slid off a 100-foot cliff while on a mountain excursion in Colorado, and their haunting final image has now been made public.
Their 2022 Jeep Gladiator crashed off a hazardous road on September 12, killing Diana Robles, 28, her aunt Ofelia Figueroa-Perez, 60, and their hired driver Don Fehd, 72.
Prior to the catastrophe, the young nurse’s final known photo was reportedly shot in a mountain gondola. Diana grinned back at the camera while donning a grey turtleneck.
A picture was then forwarded to the young nurse’s friends. They became alarmed when she did not respond to their messages. They discovered the terrible collision after scouring social media.
Ouray County Road 361 in Colorado, commonly known as Camp Bird Road, is well renowned for its danger. It is recognised as one of the most dangerous highways in the US and a picturesque, small, unpaved mountain road.
According to Colorado State, the group was travelling towards Ouray when the car veered off the road, fell 100 feet to the ground, and rolled 140 feet down a steep slope.
The vehicle was found perched on its roof by two onlookers.
Police stated that the driver had been thrown from the vehicle while Arizonan vacationers Diana and Ofelia were discovered dead in the vehicle with their seatbelts fastened.
The two had reserved Colorado West Jeep Rentals and Tours for the off-road adventure.
“As we are dealing as a family with our great loss of two of our beloved family members Ofelia Figueroa-Perez and Diana Karina Robles,” the family wrote on Facebook. We are speechless and in a state of shock.
“We know they are in the merciful hands of our Lord as they themselves being nurses had healing hands in every life they touched.”
Josh Lewis, a State Patrol trooper, said he had no reason to believe that alcohol or drugs had a role in the collision.
The cause of the collision is being looked into. Tuesday saw the car’s recovery.
