Following social media rumours that the PPP-led administration was selling flour bags it had received as relief from the United Kingdom for the recent floods in local businesses, the Sindh Government came under fire on Sunday.
Social media users posted an image of a flour bag with the words “UK aid” printed on it, and several Twitterati claimed that the bags were a component of the help that the UK sent to Pakistan and were being sold in Karachi stores.
However, it was later noted that this picture was from 2014.
This was just a show-off honestly, it took me only 30 seconds to find out that UK-Aid arrived just today and the photo was posted yesterday. The spread was initiated on FB and then came to twitter. https://t.co/LPGZbTPWCf

Furthermore, the CM House made it clear that the news was based on a “fabricated” social media post in a brief statement posted on their official Twitter account.
This is a fabricated social media post that has been circulating.
The #UK is not a partner in this programme & has not provided wheat flour.
Politically motivated propaganda is being spread to undermine, discredit relief work & to divert attention from the genuine service. https://t.co/dE2kMoMahY— Sindh Chief Minister House (@SindhCMHouse) September 11, 2022
“The UK is not a partner in this programme and has not provided wheat flour. Politically motivated propaganda is being spread to undermine, discredit relief work and to divert attention from the genuine service,” the statement read.
“As Government of Pakistan and NDMA has not received any aid from the United Kingdom containing/consisting of flour bags,” it was clarified.
Clarification:
There is no authenticity in the news circulating on SM about selling of flourbags recived from UK. As Govt of Pakistan & NDMApak has not recived any aid from United Kingdom containing/consisting of flour bags.— NDMA PAKISTAN (@ndmapk) September 11, 2022
