According to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, INSTAGRAM has introduced a new one-way messaging feature for a small group of users.
It’s a component of Instagram’s brand-new Channels broadcast conversation function.
Instead than using Instagram’s Stories or Live function, the feature enables producers to send out public messages to their followers.
But it’s also a method to give the app one-way messaging.
Text-based messages are available on channels along with photos, polls, responses, and other content. Basically everything that makers do now with Stories.
Before you get too enthusiastic, keep in mind that the feature is only currently being tested with a small group of US-based authors.
Although a wider rollout is anticipated in the upcoming months.
It is a copy of the widely used messaging service Telegram, which enables one-way texting.
It’s probably designed for authors with sizable fan bases who want to keep their followers informed about what they’re up to.
Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, also said that the capability would eventually be brought to Facebook and Messenger.
It will probably proceed in a similar manner to Instagram Stories, which was originally released on Instagram and then spread to Facebook.
Only creators, according to Zuckerberg, are permitted to post on broadcast channels.
As a result, users who subscribe to the channels can respond to messages and cast their votes in polls, but they are unable to directly engage in dialogue.
In the upcoming months, Instagram intends to expand the functionality of its broadcast channels.
Similar to the Live option, the functionality is anticipated to allow users to invite another creator into the channel for conversations.
