Father and son lost in a horrifying traffic accident that shook their neighbourhood have received heartbreaking tributes.
While awaiting NRMA roadside help on Saturday, Ewen Jubb, 46, and his son Alex, 14, passed away on the M1 Motorway close to Ourimbah on the NSW Central Coast.
When a Mitsubishi Challenger struck their Holden Commodore at around 9am, the couple was forced to stop on the motorway’s centre median strip.
After the terrible accident, wife and mother Bernadette Jubb received “huge support and help” from the police and other authorities, a family member told The Newcastle News.
The family resides in Coal Point on Lake Macquarie, a suburb of Newcastle, where Alex attended a nearby school and Ewen worked as a building surveyor.
The family member described them as a “private, loving, and hard-working family.”
“Alex’s buddies and the school had been informed,”
Counseling has been made available to Alex’s instructors and friends to help them deal with the young boy’s passing, but the school has not yet officially notified all parents since it is still awaiting family clearance.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit officers are still looking into the crash and have encouraged anyone in the area who may have dashcam footage between the hours of 8.15 and 9 a.m. to come forward.
