Emirates, one of the top airlines in the world, has unveiled its most recent advancement in air travel: the Self Boarding Smart Gates. These gates are made to make it simple for passengers to board their flights without interacting with the crew.
To board a flight, passengers only need to scan their boarding pass. To confirm the passenger’s identity and match it with their boarding pass, the technology uses facial recognition. Only a few seconds are needed for the process. Self Boarding Smart Gates are only currently operational on a limited number of gates in Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport (DXB), but the airline plans to eventually make this technology available on all gates.
Check-in System ‘Sara’ by Emirates
Earlier this year, Emirates made the world’s first robotic check-in system, Sara, available at Dubai Airports. At least six different languages will be supported by the system, making it usable by tourists from various nations.
According to Ade Redha, a spokesperson for Emirates, Sara will help travellers with everything from check-in to hotel reservations. He added that although traveller needs are constantly expanding, airport conditions remain unchanged. Emirates hopes to provide its customers with better service through technology with the launch of Sara.
