Eman Esfandi is the person who gives Ezra Bridger life. The actor will play the adored animated character in the upcoming Disney+ series Ahsoka, it was revealed today, according to Cinelinx.
Following Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she travels the galaxy in quest of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a former commander from the Empire, will be the focus of the Star Wars television series, which is scripted by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Jon Favreau.
The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian’s second season are where the titular character first appeared. Ezra made his television debut in 2014’s Star Wars Rebels, where he was voiced by Taylor Gray. Alongside Hayden Christensen, who will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the series, other actors Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Ray Stevenson will also appear.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Mena Massoud, who starred in Aladdin, was once linked to the role of Ezra. However, today, he congratulated Esfandi on Twitter.
“Glad the rumors will stop now,” he wrote. “Never really had a fair shot at it unfortunately (1 self-tape months ago) but just wasn’t meant for me I guess. Can’t deny the dude looks exactly like Ezra. Hope it’s done justice!”
With roles in the Oscar-nominated film King Richard and the newest military thriller The Inspection about a young gay guy enlisting in the Marines, Esfandi’s career has only been moving upward in recent years.
Although a release date has not yet been set, it is anticipated to arrive on streamers in 2023.
