According to reports, Noor Jehan, an African elephant that recently passed away at the Karachi Zoo, had broken back legs and had been paralyzed for the previous four months, according to the findings of the postmortem examination.
Noor Jehan was unable to lift her own body weight as a result of not receiving proper and prompt treatment and care, according to the report.
A thorough post-mortem report, which will soon be made public according to officials, will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding Noor Jehan’s tragic demise.
On April 5, the 17-year-old elephant underwent immediate treatment in Karachi for a tumor, but sadly, he passed away just a few days later. Many animal lovers have expressed their sorrow at hearing of her passing, and questions about how captive animals are treated and cared for have also been raised.
Noor Jehan, an African elephant at the Karachi Zoo, received treatment for her serious health issues under the supervision of international specialists.
A team from the animal welfare organization Four Paws also paid her a visit during this time. Unfortunately, Noor Jehan fell into a pond at the zoo while exhibiting early signs of recovery.
It’s important to note that Karachi once housed four sibling African elephants in captivity. Three female elephants, including Noor Jehan and Madhubala who were housed at the Karachi Zoo, were among them.
Malika and Sonu, the other two, were kept at the Safari Park. In 2009, all four elephants were transported to Pakistan.
