Following a decline in fuel costs in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai has announced a cut in taxi charges that will take effect immediately (UAE). The minimum charge in the city has decreased by 22 fils, and the price per kilometre has decreased from AED 2.19 to AED 1.97.
According to Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), quoted by Khaleej Times, the decrease is a reaction to the recent drop in fuel costs and is an effort to maintain open communication with customers. All taxis, including limousines, will be subject to this change.
With Super 98 costing 15.7% less at AED 2.78 per litre, Super 95 costing 16% less at AED 2.67 per litre, and E-Plus costing 16.7% less at AED 2.59 per litre for January 2023, the UAE significantly reduced retail fuel prices. As a result, Dubai’s taxi fares have decreased twice in the past four months.
Due to the same rationale, other UAE cities including Sharjah and Ajman also announced decreases in their minimum taxi charges.
