Dua Zahra, an 18-year-old from Karachi, was sent to a shelter home by a Lahore court on Tuesday as per a court order.

Dua made national headlines when she unexpectedly vanished from Karachi, but it was later revealed that she had fled her house in order to wed Zaheer, who was then 21 years old.

Dua asserted that she was in danger of losing her life when she came before a magistrate’s court on Tuesday. She said that her parents had threatened her. Additionally, she alleged that in the past they had physically abused her.

“My parents are threatening me with dire consequences,” she said and pleaded to the court that she wanted to go to a shelter home.

On the other hand, Jibran Nasir, the counsel for Dua’s father, said that Zaheer and his accomplices can “go to any length” to save their own lives.

To save their own life Zaheer/accomplices will go to any length. Please see the application submitted in name of #DuaZahra.
