Dr Seemin Jamali, the former executive director of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), passed way after her health deteriorated significantly.
The physician, who is one of Pakistan’s most accomplished and recognized doctors, was treating her in a private hospital’s critical care unit (ICU), with doctors attempting to “save her life” at all costs.
Jamali, popularly known as the Iron Lady or the Bullet Lady, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020.
According to the article, she was placed on a BiPAP machine after her oxygen levels plummeted. Dr. Jamali’s husband informed the magazine that she was brought to the hospital on Friday when her condition deteriorated.
Dr. Jamali’s career began in Nawabshah, where she attended medical school before joining Jinnah Hospital, a government hospital, to serve the people of Pakistan.
In November 2016, she began her tenure as executive director of JPMC, one of the country’s major public healthcare institutions.
She had become the hospital’s face and the initial point of contact anytime there was a medical emergency in Karachi since then.
She will leave the military in August 2021.
Jamali was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) for her outstanding contributions to medicine.
