LAHORE: Vice-Chancellor Dr. Asghar Zaidi was removed from the federal university search committee on Tuesday after inviting Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, to speak at the Government College University Lahore.
In a notice released by the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Shoaib Mir has taken Dr. Asghar Zaidi’s place as a member of the search committee.
In his letter to Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, advocate Sardar Farhat Manzoor Khan criticised the vice-chancellor’s take and wrote that “children were sent to the university for higher education and ethics”.
He claimed Khan spoke in a political and unethical manner, calling for Zaidi to be punished for allowing him to speak the university.
A letter requesting action against the university’s vice chancellor was sent to the governor following the former prime minister’s speech at GC University.
