A dolphin shockingly attacked a swimmer and a woman who was floating in the waves off a beautiful Japanese beach at this exact moment.
The angry dolphin launched its attack, biting the 60-year-old man’s hands and breaking multiple ribs.
The small beach town of Mihama, Japan, has recently been the scene of several dolphin attacks. The swimmer was captured on camera attempting to swim toward shore as kayakers appeared to escort him through the water.
When a dolphin’s grey fin suddenly materializes and drags him beneath the waves, he appears to be struggling. A few seconds later, the man emerges as the dolphin thrashes about before turning around and resuming the attack.
A few seconds later, what appears to be the same dolphin attacked a woman who was floating in a pink rubber ring. The beast continued to nibble at her flotation device as she desperately tried to swim away from it.
Beachgoers lined the sandy shores as the attacks took place as they stood in shock. At the same beach that morning, a second man in his 40s was bit on the arm, and two more people were hurt later that day.
The incident has sparked online debate about what led to the attacks that appeared to be unprovoked.
Local police report that there have been at least six incidents off the coast of Fukui.
Some scientists have hypothesized that swimming with humans causes dolphins to experience extreme stress.
Others claim that when people swim nearby, their natural behavior is disrupted, but the cause of the most recent attacks is still unknown.
“Dolphins attacking innocent humans?,” a user exclaimed. What took place?”
Another person said: “It seems that the dolphins at Suishohama have been biting since last year.”
Since then, notices have been put up on the well-known beach alerting swimmers to the potential danger posed by the mammals.
