The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the city is not in danger from high tides that are being created as cyclone Biparjoy draws closer to Sindh’s coastal lines, according to Sindh Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Sarfaraz on Wednesday.

According to the most recent Met Office bulletin, the cyclone, which developed in the Arabian Sea, is located about 360 km south of Karachi, 355 km south of Thatta, and 300 km southwest of Keti Bandar.

From June 14 to June 17, the cyclone may bring heavy rainfall to Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Karachi.

“The coastal region of Sindh may experience rain. According to the top meteorologist, the cyclone will make landfall on June 15 and its impacts will last until June 17.

Smaller coastal communities, such as Ibrahim Hyderi and Rehri Goth, are still in danger, he added. During the rainy season, water also appears on the roadways near Hawkes Bay.

Sarfaraz predicted that after the cyclone makes landfall, it will diminish and pass over in two days.

Biparjoy has been downgraded from an extremely severe cyclonic storm to a very severe cyclonic storm.

The chief meteorologist predicted that after the cyclone passes, Karachi’s weather will return to “normal,” and a sea breeze will blow through the city.

With a maximum sustained wind speed of 125-135 kilometers (78-84 miles per hour), gusting to 150 kilometers (93 miles per hour), Biparjoy is predicted to make landfall on Thursday evening between Mandvi in India’s Gujarat and southeast Sindh near Keti Bandar and adjoining areas in Pakistan.

Nearly 20,000 people were relocated to safer locations a day earlier due to the threat of the hurricane, and approximately 100,000 people are anticipated to be evacuated today.
