According to the Columbia Police Department, they detained a man who had allegedly buried another man in a pit grave.
Devante Antonio Dinkins, 26, was with a 24-year-old acquaintance at a home on Kimpton Drive on September 16 when the other man experienced a medical episode and died, according to investigators.
In addition, they assert that Dinkins removed the body from the house and buried him in a small hole in the backyard rather than dialling 9-1-1.
The police were summoned after a witness noted that the soil had been shifted. Dinkins was detained, then after a court set a $10,000 bond, was freed from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
According to a news release, Dinkins is accused of removing a dead body without authorization.
