Darius Campbell Danesh, a POP Idol participant, passed away today at the age of 41, his family said in a moving eulogy.
Known for his unforgettable performance of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” at his Popstars audition in 2001, the celebrity was discovered dead in his American apartment on August 11.
US police have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances even though the cause of his death is unknown.
The musician, who had previously narrowly avoided death by being engaged in a vehicle accident in Spain and slipping into a coma after contracting meningitis from drinking Thames water, has since received tributes.
According to a statement his family issued today: “We regret to inform you of the demise of Darius Campbell Danesh.
“On August 11, Darius was discovered unconscious in bed in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota. The local medical examiners’ office later pronounced him dead.
“It has been established by the local police department that there were no indications of malice or unusual circumstances.
“His abrupt death has no known cause at this time, but investigations into his health are ongoing.
“Please accept our request for privacy at this time as we process the devastating death of our son and brother,” the request reads.
The last image of the musician was taken back in June, when he was seen with Gerard Butler to the beach in Malibu.
