The discovery of a century-old Dairy Milk bar cover under the bathroom floors of a woman’s home in the UK astonished her. According to Metro UK, Emma Young, a resident of a 1930s home in Plymouth, Devon, was remodeling her home when she discovered the wrapper. The mother of two first assumed it was simply some old junk, but after brushing the accumulated dust off the lid, she recognized it was a piece of history. The century-old cardboard chocolate box was wrapped with the distinctive purple of Cadbury.
Emma said it was in a “pristine” shape and that it could just be placed back on the shelf. Given that the package apparently contained a price tag reading “six pence,” the mother concluded that it must be ancient. While she sought to determine how old the Dairy Milk bar sleeve was, she appeared to have preserved the 16 cm long vintage packaging on her mantelpiece. Emma contacted Cadbury in her search for information, and the company told her it was an ancient Dairy Milk carton from 1930–1934.
The mother from the UK remarked, “I was astonished by its condition. One side is spotless, and it’s in such fantastic condition that you wouldn’t guess it was almost a century old. More than just a wrapper, it has a little piece of history. It has been occupying a spot on our mantlepiece since it has become somewhat of a talking topic, according to Metro UK. Emma also mentioned the nostalgic importance of the cardboard Dairy Milk box. The mother loved chocolate, and her favorite brand is Cadbury, so she found this discovery to be quite remarkable.
As part of her remodeling, she now intends to frame the bar and proudly display it within her home. She said, “I believe it might have to be framed and go on the bathroom wall with the date of the find because that’s where it belongs, so we’ll put it back where we found it this time but out in the open. While discussing the find, a Cadbury representative said, “We were thrilled to witness the excitement that this piece of Cadbury history has brought! According to the newspaper, Cadbury has a long history and has contributed to British culture and legacy for nearly 200 years as the country’s favorite chocolate brand.
The official went on to say that the occurrence served as a gentle reminder for the company of the important function that its chocolate bar plays in people’s lives.
