According to police, a 1-year-old Arizona girl died when her mother ran her over while relocating her car near the family’s home.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Thursday from a lady who said “she had run over her 13-month-old baby with her car,” according to authorities.
The small child, identified as Cyra Rose Thoeming by the Daily Mail, was with her mother outside the family’s Cottonwood home when tragedy struck.
According to the sheriff’s office, the mom had left her baby in her car seat in a location where she assumed her daughter would be secure while she relocated her vehicle.
“While repositioning the vehicle, the front tire caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward which led to the infant suffering critical injuries,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
Cyra was rushed to a local hospital, but she could not be saved.
Her mother has not been charged, and sheriff’s investigators are continuing to probe the death.
A GoFundMe page has been created to benefit the family.
The little girl’s uncle described her as “a light in the world who brought smiles to everyone she met.”
“In her short, beautiful life, she loved being outside, nature, playing with her family, animals and the water,” her wrote on the page. “There isn’t anyone who didn’t smile their biggest after spending just a moment with her.”
