Cyclone Biparjoy, which had slightly changed its course away from Karachi, is now anticipated to make landfall in Sindh’s Keti Bandar on Thursday at 11 am, according to climate change minister Sherry Rehman. The minister revealed at a press conference in Islamabad that about 66,000 residents of Sindh’s coastal areas had been relocated to safer areas.
She urged the populace to assist the authorities and reassured them that rescue organizations are prepared for relief efforts. The minister emphasized that the cyclone will have the greatest impact in the districts of Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar while also mentioning that Biparjoy is leaving Karachi.
According to the most recent reports from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Cyclone Biparjoy has changed its course and is no longer headed toward Karachi. The distance from the city is currently 370 kilometers. The cyclone’s position is now at latitude 21.7°N and longitude 66.4°E after moving in a north-northeasterly direction over the previous six hours.
The weather forecast department estimates its distance from Karachi, Thatta, and Keti Bandar to be 370, 355, and 290 kilometers, respectively, to the south-southwest. The cyclone was 340 kilometers south of Karachi earlier.
