A 13-year-old boy who successfully took control of a school bus and brought it to a stop after the driver lost consciousness made history.
Dillon Reeves, a student at Carter Middle School in Warren, Michigan, USA, was on board the bus with 66 other students when he noticed the driver losing control of the steering wheel and collapsing as the bus veered into oncoming traffic, according to video of the incident.
The young teen leaped to the front from his seat about five rows back, took control of the wheel, and safely stopped the bus as the terrified screams of the students could be heard in the background. Social media users have shared the video and praised the courageous boy.
Dillon bravely stopped the bus, and the video captures him yelling for someone to “dial 911 now.”

The bus driver’s illness has an unknown origin, and she hasn’t had any other unfortunate incidents while operating the vehicle.
The school’s headmaster, Robert Livernois, praised Dillon for his bravery and quick thinking in a statement. When he observed the driver in distress, Dillon, according to the witness, “stepped to the front of the bus and helped bring it to a stop.”
In a Facebook post, Warren Councilman Jonathan Lafferty called Dillon a hero and said, “We are very proud of you for your heroic actions!”
When the police called, Dillon’s parents received it with shock. According to Steve Reeves, his father, “When the Warren police called me, I said, ‘What the heck did he do?’ And they said, ‘No, your son is a hero’.”
Ireta Reeves, Dillon’s proud stepmother, posted her thoughts on Facebook following the incident. She wrote, “He is home and everyone is fine thanks to Dillon!” “It’s just another day to Dillon. He is unaware of how many people are happy for him today.
Officials and community members alike have praised Dillon’s quick thinking and bravery in the wake of the incident, which has raised awareness of the significance of student safety on school buses.
