Police say a man has been accused with kidnapping a woman who vanished on Friday while jogging close to the University of Memphis.
Cleotha Abston, 38, “has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence,” the Memphis Police Department statement said Sunday.
Eliza Fletcher, 34, “has not been located at this time,” the statement added.
The mother of two who vanished early on Friday morning was still being sought after, according to the statement.
“This remains to be an active and ongoing investigation,” it added.
Police had claimed that they had found Fletcher’s personal belongings. She was sporting a pink top and a pair of purple jogging shorts when she was abducted.
Family members, who refer to her as Liza, issued a statement on Saturday, which was delivered by Michael Keeney, Fletcher’s uncle.
“Liza has touched the hearts of many people,” he said, noting an outpouring of support and goodwill for the avid runner and kindergarten teacher.
