After an alleged fight with his ex-girlfriend in a Nashville movie theatre on Saturday, Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks was detained on counts of domestic abuse causing bodily harm and damage.
According to an affidavit from the Davidson County, Tennessee, clerk of criminal courts acquired by the Florida Times-Union, the incident happened in the parking lot where Claybrooks reportedly pulled a mobile phone from the woman’s hand and threw it to the ground, breaking it.
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim’s right hand exhibited many bruises and abrasions.
According to the story, the lady, who identified herself as Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend, claimed she told his current girlfriend that she had been with him the previous night and had photographic evidence on her phone.
At that point, according to the lady, Claybrooks, 25, allegedly grabbed her hand, yanked the phone out of her hands, and hurled it on the ground, shattering it.
Claybrooks, a native of Nashville, is out on a $2,500 bail and is due in court on May 1.
According to arrest records, both offences happened on Friday, and Claybrooks was detained on Saturday. The vandalism charge is $1,000 or less, and both counts are misdemeanours.
The affidavit states that Nashville police were summoned to Claybrooks’ ex-girlfriend’s house because she claimed to have been involved in an altercation with him at 8 p.m. on Saturday after he arrived at the theatre with another woman.
The Florida Times-Union reported on Tuesday that a representative for the Nashville Police Department stated that the arrest record was not yet available since the case was still pending.
“The Jaguars are aware of a recent incident in Nashville, Tennessee involving Chris Claybrooks and are currently in the process of gathering information,” said John Dever, the Jaguars’ senior vice president and chief communications officer. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
On Tuesday, Claybrooks posted a picture of what seemed to be a woman’s hand at a dining table on his Instagram Story.
In his most recent season, Claybrooks, who the Jaguars chose in the seventh round in the 2020 NFL Draught, played in all 18 games. He has recently completed his third season with Jacksonville.
He has 81 career tackles and has mostly played as a substitute and returner on special teams.
Claybrooks is about to reach the last year of his rookie deal.
