Josephine Hannah Chaplin, CHARLIE Chaplin’s daughter, passed away at the age of 74. The star of Escape to the Sun passed away on July 13, according to the family’s announcement in Carnet Du Jour.
The announcement in English states that a funeral will take place “in the intimacy of the family” in Paris, France. The cause of death is not known.
Her Famous Family:
The Hollywood Reporter states that the Canterbury Tales actress is the sixth of the silent movie legend’s 11 children.
Six years after her parents’ elopement in 1943, Josephine Hannah Chaplin was born in Santa Monica, California, on March 31, 1949.
The actress is the third of Charlie’s and his fourth wife Oona O’Neill’s eight children. Eugene O’Neill, a playwright who won the Nobel Prize, is the father of the Salinger actress.
On behalf of her siblings, Josephine oversaw the Chaplin office in Paris over the years. She funded a statue of her father in Waterville, Ireland, a popular vacation spot for her famous family.
Her Personal Life:
Nikki Sistovaris, a Greek businesswoman, and the Bay Boy actor were married from 1969 until their divorce in 1977. After that, she shared a home with French actor Maurice Ronet, who died in 1983.
Archaeologist Jean-Claude Gardin, her second husband, and she wed; they remained married until his passing in 2013. She is survived by her brothers Eugene and Christopher, sisters Victoria, Jane, and Annette, and sons Charly, Julien, and Arthur.

Josephine made an appearance in the first scene of Limelight, which was written, directed, and starred in by her illustrious father, in 1952.
She made another appearance in the opening scene of A Countess From Hong Kong, written and directed by her famous father, in 1967.

She portrayed Hadley Richardson, Ernest Hemingway’s first wife, in a miniseries in 1988 that also starred Stacy Keach.
The 1994 movie Ciudad Baja features her final performance.

According to a report, Warner Bros. released a new double-disc DVD of “Modern Times” in July 2002. The Gold Rush, The Great Dictator, and Limelight, Chaplin’s final film in America, were among the masterworks of the comedian that Warner debuted with newly restored transfers.
