In the hunt for a missing 14-year-old who inexplicably vanished last week, a BODY has been discovered.
Theo Ferrara, a high school student, was last seen on Thursday afternoon strolling close to his Freeport, Maine, home.
In the same location where investigators were looking for the teen on Tuesday afternoon, members of the Maine Marine Patrol found a body in Maquoit Bay.
Theo’s school, Regional School Unit 5, reports that the deceased victim is the pupil even though the identity of the body has not been established.
“It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to inform you that this afternoon, Theo Ferrara was found deceased,” the school wrote on Facebook.
“Our sincere condolences to Theo’s family and friends. During this time as the school community processes this news and copes with grief, the school district will offer counseling and bereavement support to all students and staff.”
Numerous family members, friends, and volunteers have been actively looking for the teenager ever since he vanished.
In their search for Theo, more than 50 police officers, 16 police dogs, and dozens of volunteers combed a seven-square-mile area that included wooded areas and coasts.
