“As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.”

Barry Bennell, a PAEDO football coach, passed away in prison at the age of 70 for abusing more than 20 boys at prestigious clubs.
According to The Sun, the predator, who had cancer, passed away early on Saturday at HMP Littlehey in Cambridgeshire.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Bennell worked as a youth coach at Crewe Alexandra, Manchester City, and Stoke City.
Additionally, he had connections to youth organizations in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Greater Manchester. He took advantage of his position to sexually assault boys.
After abusing a 13-year-old British kid during a football camp in Florida, the paedo was first sentenced to four years in prison in the US in 1994.
Bennell eventually made his way back to the UK, where the 1997 Channel 4 Dispatches feature Soccer’s Foul Play showed his wider history as a predator.
At Chester Crown Court, he admitted to 23 offenses dating back to the 1970s and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Bennell was sentenced to two further years in prison after entering a guilty plea in 2015 to inciting a youngster under the age of 14 to commit a gross indecency in the early 1980s.
After football player Andy Woodward disclosed that Bennell had groomed and abused him for four years, beginning when he was just 11 years old, more courageous victims came forward.
At Liverpool Crown Court in 2018, he was found guilty of more than 50 sexual offenses committed against 22 youngsters.
The judge referred to the monster as the “devil incarnate” and sentenced him to 34 years in prison.
Bennell was imprisoned at HMP Littlehey in Cambridgeshire, a facility for sex offenders.
Bennell told one of his past victims that his cancer diagnosis was “payback” when he contacted him via Facebook, according to testimony given in court.
After having their damages suit against Manchester City rejected by the High Court, eight men who were assaulted by Bennell are apparently appealing.
The “callous” settlement plan for Bennell’s victims was criticized by one of the guys.
According to a representative for the Prison Service, Barry Bennell passed away at HMP Littlehey on September 16, 2023.
