Barbara “Babs” Thore passed away on Wednesday, her daughter confirmed on Instagram. She was perhaps best known for playing Whitney’s mother on TLC’s My Big Fat Fabulous Life. She was 76.
The precise time Whitney was born over 40 years ago, at 10:32 PM on Wednesday, Whitney reported that her mother passed away “just as the credits rolled on her favourite movie.”
Whitney disclosed that her mother had been given a diagnosis of cerebral amyloid angiopathy, a degenerative, incurable disease that can result in brain haemorrhage, strokes, and dementia. She first experienced a stroke in 2017, and her most recent one occurred on November 13.
“My mother is our family’s greatest gift,” Whitney wrote. “We could never love, revere, or value another person more. If you’re reading this, you’re familiar with her magic: her southern charm, her hilarious sense of humor, her well-timed witty remarks, her beauty, and her ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable and cared for. But what you can’t possibly understand is the extent of my mother’s love — what you may have witnessed and felt through a TV screen is a minute fraction that, even if multiplied by a million, wouldn’t come close to ‘real life.’”
As her illness advanced, the TLC programme addressed Thore’s health issues. Following one of her strokes, Thore’s recuperation and release from the hospital were followed throughout the most current 10th season.
My Big Fabulous Life’s tenth season, which consisted of 12 episodes, ended in October. There has been no news on whether a tenth or eleventh season will be ordered.
