One of Pakistan’s largest commercial banks, Bank Alfalah, has teamed up with Habib University to create a scholarship fund for students who want to attend graduate school. For the duration of the four-year degree program, the fund will fully cover all educational costs in order to provide deserving students with financial aid and ensure their access to education.
Bank Alfalah has promised to support a select group of candidates pursuing social sciences and engineering studies with an annual commitment of PKR 6.4 million (amounting to PKR 25.6 million over four years). Four highly qualified and deserving students will receive equal educational opportunities as part of the program, which promotes inclusivity by emphasizing females and applicants with disabilities. The scholarship recipients will be recognized as “Alfalah Scholars.”
The collaboration between Bank Alfalah and Habib University highlights a shared commitment to academic excellence and a recognition of the profound effects that higher education has on people and society, according to Wasif Rizvi, president of Habib University. In addition to opening doors of opportunity for gifted students, this partnership improves the standing of higher education in Pakistan by offering scholarships.
‘We are pleased to launch a scholarship fund in partnership with Habib University catering professional education in the social sciences and engineering field,’ said Atif Bajwa, president and chief executive officer of Bank Alfalah. Higher education is crucial because it fosters individual development, equips people with useful skills, and accelerates the development of the nation. Our talented young people’s futures are shaped by our investments in high-quality education, which also help our nation’s socioeconomic development.
The Bank is committed to making a significant difference and setting up a viable educational option for students. By promoting inclusive and high-quality education (SDG 4) and encouraging partnerships for the goals (SDG 17), the scholarship fund established by the Bank is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through initiatives from Bank Alfalah, the scholarship program will give scholarship students and students at Habib University practical experience to improve their four-year educational journey. Additionally, the Bank intends to host workshops at Habib University, inviting academics and faculty to speak about topics like digital banking, financial inclusion, and green banking.
