During Pakistan’s final T20I match against New Zealand at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Kamran Akmal expressed his displeasure with Babar Azam’s captaincy.
Akmal claims that Babar failed to learn from his past errors as captain, which led to Pakistan’s loss in the most recent T20I. Babar was specifically criticized by Akmal for his lack of tactical awareness, specifically for not using off-spinner Iftikhar Ahmed against left-handed batsmen Mark Chapman and James Neesham and for relying too heavily on leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who struggled against the New Zealand batsmen.
Babar was advised by Akmal to rest Shadab Khan and use a different bowling option to rekindle the team’s momentum, but Babar ignored this counsel.
